Station 10: Make up your mind!
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you
(Psalms 32,8).
Ansgar repeatedly fails in the Christianisation of Scandinavia, but then often seeks other paths. In some places, this leads to him preaching successfully, buying young people out of the slave trade and educating them in Christianity – and resolutely following the path he has chosen.
Where do you actually want to go?
"At the crossroads of life there are no signposts” (Charles Chaplin).
"In the forest two paths presented themselves to me, I took the one that was less trodden. This changed my life!" (Robert Lee Frost).
A crossroads: Who or what tells you where to go? How do you find good destinations? Which path do you think is easier? And is the easier one the better one? Who can already know? Who do you allow to guide you? Can you trust?
Gather strength for your next step and let go of other paths!
